The Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (AVU), in institutional partnership with the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, has launched a collaborative residency framework. The Cité internationale des arts is a sprawling international residency hub nestled in the heart of Paris, welcoming creators from across the globe to foster open intercultural dialogue, long-term creative cross-pollination, and deep regional networking.

AVU x Cité internationale des arts Residency Programme 2027.
This fully funded joint initiative offers two distinct three-month residencies for academic practitioners and researchers looking to develop rigorous, research-led artistic or theoretical projects. Situated within an expansive international environment, the program is built to support sustained creative advancement, methodology testing, and direct critical engagement with the vibrant Parisian institutional art scene and its broader networks.
Live-In Studio Logistics:
Laureates are housed on the historical Marais site of the Cité internationale des arts. The live-in studios (ranging from 25 to 40m²) are uniquely engineered to blend daily life with concentrated creative production, featuring a combined workroom, kitchen, private bathroom, and designated sleeping area. A standard live-in studio can structurally accommodate up to two adults and one child under the age of 10 (Note: Additional operational fees will be charged by the host institution for any accompanying family members).

Eligibility
- Institutional Affiliation: Applicants must be directly employed by the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (AVU) in an active academic position, holding an employment contract of at least 0.5 FTE that remains valid throughout the entirety of the 2027 residency window.
- Practice Focus: Must demonstrate a rigorous, ongoing creative or theoretical research practice.
- Exclusions: Collective or group applications are not eligible; this framework evaluates individual profiles only.
- Accessibility Note: The historical live-in studios on the Marais site do not currently meet modern accessibility standards for people with disabilities, though structural steps are being mapped out for future updates.
Program Benefits and Awards (Fully Funded Framework)
- Stipend Support: A monthly living stipend of €1,000.
- Housing Accommodations: A fully covered live-in work studio on the Marais site in Paris for a duration of three (3) months.
- Travel Logistics: Full coverage of round-trip transit costs between Prague and Paris.
- Institutional Insurance: Complete health and personal liability insurance coverage throughout the stay.
- Professional Networking: Targeted integration into professional networking tracks and official public programming platforms managed by the Cité.

Application Requirements (Must be Submitted in English)
Dossiers must be finalized electronically and require a valid Google account profile. Applicants must compile and upload:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV): A detailed professional CV summarizing academic and creative milestones (Maximum 4 pages).
- Artistic or Curatorial Portfolio: Presenting a clear layout of past projects, complete with fully captioned imagery, texts, or functional web links to representative audio/video files (Maximum 15 pages).
- Motivation Statement: Outlining specific artistic or theoretical alignment with the program, and detailing exactly how your ongoing research will benefit from a Paris-centric network (Maximum 3 pages).
- Professional Support Statement: Describing your structural expectations of the Cité's support network. Applicants should explicitly detail how they envision collaborating with Paris-based curators, researchers, or practitioners, and are encouraged to name specific professionals they wish to engage in dialogue with to inform their project.

Key Dates
- Application Period: May 19 – June 18, 2026. Once locked and finalized, applications cannot be structurally modified.

Additional Details
Applications enter review under a five-person panel consisting of three institutional representatives from AVU and two appointed experts from the Cité internationale des arts. The jury evaluates applications based on portfolio visual coherence, project feasibility, methodology, and the concrete relevance of a Parisian environment to the successful realization of the proposal.
