Short Description
The Canopy Residency (previously called ‘Plum Lime Residency’) provides artists with a large private studio in the Chelsea Gallery District of New York City for 4 weeks to create a new body of work, host studio visits, immerse themselves in their practice, and take advantage of being in the heart of Chelsea! The Canopy Residency is offered each Summer.
Eligibility
This residency is open to committed artists ages 21+, worldwide. Formal credentials are not required, but a demonstrated dedication to your practice is essential. Enrollment in The Canopy Program is not necessary to apply. The resident must be in NYC throughout the residency AND able to cover all travel costs, lodging and food; as they are not provided.
Submission Requirements
- An active and updated website or a link to Google Drive/PDF with 10 – 15 works
- Link to CV
- Explanation of art background + education (300 words max.)
- Brief Statement of Intent on how you would like to use the Canopy Space – explain the need for studio space, what body of work you would like to develop, how often you will be in the space, etc. (150 words max.)
- Application Fee ($20 in April, $25 in May)
