Cavendish Arts Science, delivered in partnership with Girton College (University of Cambridge). The Fellowship supports the ethos of experimenting, decentring, and re-imagining, designed for artists to explore new approaches and ways of thinking through engagement with scientists.

Applications are open for the Cavendish Arts Science Fellowship.
This one-year fellowship offers opportunities for playful experimentation beyond conventional artistic and scientific boundaries. The Fellowship provides the selected artist with the opportunity to develop thought-provoking ideas through engagement with physicists, experiment with new approaches to their practice, and make progress in developing new work-in-progress. (Note: Artists with no previous experience of working with scientists or in a scientific environment are particularly encouraged to apply).

Eligibility:
- Who: Open to artists internationally of any nationality or country of residence.
- Age & Education: Applicants MUST be over the age of 18 AND out of full-time education by the start of the Fellowship.
- Joint Applications: Joint applications from artist partnerships are accepted, but accommodation is single-occupancy, and budgets/stipends remain fixed and must be shared.
- Language: Applications and interviews must be in English. (Note: You may use a translation tool to complete your application, but you must indicate this. Translation can be arranged for the interview if needed).
Program Benefits & Awards:
- Stipend: £10,000 GBP contribution towards living costs and expenses.
- Production Budget: £10,000 GBP to support the development of new work.
- Travel Budget: Up to £3,000 GBP (can be used for flights and visa fees).
- Accommodation & Meals: Rent-free accommodation (including a kitchen) and free meals at Girton College during the residency period.
- Workspace: A studio/creative workspace at Girton College, plus flexible working spaces at the Cavendish Laboratory.

- Fellowship Period: October 2026 – October 2027.
- Residency Dates: Flexible. Typically involves a residency period in Cambridge of 6 to 12 months, which may be split across two visits.
