Collection Technician in the Artistic Area Job Opportunity
Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani de Palma is seeking applications for a temporary full-time Collection Technician position within its Artistic Department. This professional role is designed for candidates with experience in museum collections, conservation, registration, and exhibition logistics.
The selected candidate will work closely with the Collection and Registration Department, supporting the management of artworks belonging to the museum collection as well as works borrowed for temporary exhibitions. Responsibilities include artwork documentation, condition reporting, collection database management, conservation monitoring, storage supervision, logistics coordination, and support for exhibition installations and deinstallations.
This position offers an opportunity to work directly with a major contemporary art collection while contributing to the operational and curatorial activities of a respected European museum.
The Role Overview

- Contract Type: Temporary replacement contract for a staff member on leave.
- Contract Duration: Until 31 May 2027.
- Salary: €27,675.48 gross annually.
- Working Hours: 36 hours per week.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 08:00–15:00.
- Reporting To: Collection and Registration Department, Artistic Area Management.
- Starting Date: Immediate incorporation.
- Selection Method: Merit-based evaluation followed by interviews for shortlisted candidates.
Position & Tasks
The Collection Technician will contribute to the management, preservation, and documentation of artworks and exhibition materials through the following responsibilities:
- Assisting the Conservation and Collection Department.
- Supporting temporary exhibition production and logistics.
- Producing and monitoring conservation reports.
- Tracking artwork movements and condition status.
- Coordinating registration procedures for installations and deinstallations.
- Monitoring environmental and conservation conditions in galleries and storage facilities.
- Managing artwork packaging and transportation documentation.
- Maintaining collection and exhibition databases.
- Managing documentation and publication inventories.
- Supporting exchanges with libraries, archives, and cultural institutions.
- Publishing collection information through museum communication channels.
- Assisting with special projects and institutional programs.
- Coordinating with suppliers and service providers.
- Supporting departmental strategy and project implementation.

Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be eligible to work under Spanish public employment regulations.
- Be at least 16 years old.
- Hold a university degree in:
- Art History,
- Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage,
- Fine Arts,
- Humanities,
- or equivalent fields.
- Demonstrate a minimum of two years of professional experience in museum collections, conservation, registration, exhibitions, or related cultural institutions.
- Have excellent written and spoken Spanish.
- Hold a minimum Catalan language certificate at C1 level.
- Hold a minimum English language certificate at B2 level.
- Meet all legal requirements necessary for employment within Spain.
International qualifications are accepted provided they are officially recognized or homologated where required.
