Organizer Information

EMARE (European Media Art Residency Exchange) operates under the umbrella of EMAP – European Media Art Platform, a leading European network dedicated to supporting media artists working at the intersection of art, technology, science, and society. EMAP is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union and connects prominent media art institutions, festivals, research centers, and production labs across Europe. The platform’s mission is to foster artistic innovation, critical digital culture, and transdisciplinary experimentation. Through residencies, exhibitions, and public programs, EMAP supports artists in developing ambitious projects that engage with urgent contemporary themes such as artificial intelligence, digital infrastructures, ecological crises, data politics, and emerging technological imaginaries. EMARE is EMAP’s flagship residency program, offering fully supported production and research residencies hosted annually by selected member institutions across Europe.

Title & Description

EMARE – European Media Art Residency Programme Open Call The EMARE Residency Programme invites media artists to develop new, experimental artistic projects through fully funded residencies at leading European media art institutions. The program supports research-driven practices that critically engage with digital technologies, networked systems, and contemporary socio-political realities. During the residency, selected artists will work closely with curators, researchers, and technical experts to advance a project that explores the artistic, ethical, or cultural implications of technology. EMARE prioritizes experimentation, conceptual rigor, and cross-disciplinary dialogue rather than market-driven production outcomes. Residencies culminate in public presentations, exhibitions, or showcases within the EMAP network, ensuring international visibility and professional exposure.
