The European Media Art Platform (EMAP) is a consortium of leading European media art organizations dedicated to promoting digital art and media culture. For this call, the Slovenian partner is the Kersnikova Institute (Kapelica Gallery), a renowned platform for contemporary investigative arts, science, and technology. EMAP members include prestigious institutions such as Ars Electronica (Austria), Onassis Stegi (Greece), and WRO Art Center (Poland).

Title & Description:

Applications are open for the EMAP Residency 2026.

This program invites artists, artist duos, collectives, and creative collaborations working in the fields of digital art, media art, robotics, and bio-art to apply for a two-month fully funded residency. The residency focuses on supporting contemporary artistic approaches at the intersection of art, technology, and science.

Selected artists will be hosted by one of the 16 member institutions across Europe. The residency includes a kick-off conference in Braga, Portugal (May 8–9, 2026), access to professional media labs and technical equipment, and opportunities for touring exhibitions at member festivals.

Eligibility:

  • Who: Emerging and established artists, duos, or collectives.

Program Benefits & Awards:

  • Grant: €4,000 for the lead applicant (covers subsistence).

  • Collaborator Fee: €2,000 for collaborating artists.

  • Production Budget: Up to €4,000 for project production.

  • Travel & Accommodation: Travel expenses and accommodation are fully covered by the host institution.

  • Access: Use of technical equipment and media labs.

  • Visibility: Professional presentation and exhibition tours across the EMAP network.
