Organizer Information
FUKT Magazine is an annual magazine for contemporary drawing, founded in 1999 by artist Bjørn Hegardt and now based in Berlin and Oslo. Bjørn Hegardt serves as editor, with Ariane Spanier handling the magazine's design, and each issue features a unique cover by Spanier, who also co-edits the publication. FUKT brings together artists from around the world through interviews, essays, and extensive visual portfolios, spanning emerging practitioners to internationally recognized figures, and has established itself as a leading publication in its field. From issue 16 onward, the magazine has organized each edition around a theme, with recent examples including issues centered on sound, nature, faces, and systems. FUKT has exhibited and presented at venues including MoMA PS1's NY Art Book Fair, KW Institute for Contemporary Art Berlin, and the Palais de Tokyo, among others.
Title & Description
FUKT #24 – The City Issue (Open Call)
FUKT Magazine is seeking drawings that approach the city in all its forms — as a place, a system, a social structure, an organism, a memory, or an idea — for its 24th issue. Submissions might engage with maps, public space, housing, transport, migration, displacement, urban nature, borders, crowds, solitude, or everyday life, and may be real, remembered, imagined, invented, or yet to come. The call frames cities as constantly built, transformed, expanded, neglected, and remade — shaped by architecture and infrastructure as much as by movement, politics, ecology, and the people who inhabit them — and welcomes drawing that observes, documents, analyses, questions, speculates on, or reinvents the urban world, whether focused on the city's visible fabric or on the forces and hidden structures that shape it.
