HOTO Gallery is a contemporary art space situated on Potsdamer Straße, one of Berlin’s most historically and culturally significant art districts. Located just around the corner from the iconic Neue Nationalgalerie museum, HOTO Gallery provides exhibiting creators with an ambitious, highly visible platform. This particular iteration is spearheaded by independent curator Hannah Kori, who partners with the gallery team to cultivate independent exhibitions that actively engage with Berlin’s vibrant contemporary art legacy and broader cultural dialogue.

Hannah Kori X HOTO Gallery Open Call for Group Exhibition

This international open call invites contemporary artists to submit their work for an ambitious group exhibition held at the prestigious HOTO Gallery in Berlin. The exhibition is designed to discover new creative voices from Berlin and across the globe, bringing together a diverse selection of works that demonstrate deep originality, conceptual strength, and a distinct artistic voice. Curated by Hannah Kori, the project aims to place emerging and established artists into a larger global conversation within Berlin's dynamic contemporary art scene. Selected participants will have their work physically installed and showcased for over a week in a high-traffic gallery setting, allowing them to gain critical exposure, network with local art communities, and engage directly with the European art market.

Eligibility

  • Identity: Open to all contemporary artists, whether emerging or established.
  • Demographics: There are no restrictions based on age, nationality, or background.
  • Location: Open to local Berlin-based creators as well as international applicants residing anywhere worldwide.
  • Collectives: Collaborative artistic projects and duos are welcome to apply, provided they submit a single application on behalf of the entire collective.

Program Benefits & Awards

  • Exhibition Opportunity: Physical inclusion in a curated contemporary group exhibition in the heart of Berlin's art district from August 21 to August 29, 2026.
  • Professional Curation & Promotion: Direct curatorial support from Hannah Kori, gallery staffing, administrative management, and dedicated public communications marketing.
  • Commercial Representation: Selected artworks can be made available for sale to the public and visiting collectors during the run of the exhibition. (Commission percentages and payment procedures are detailed within the final submission form terms).

Application Fee

  • €15 non-refundable submission fee.

This contribution is used directly to support the heavy resources required to run an independent exhibition, including gallery rental, administration, staffing, promotion, and the intensive application review process. There are no additional or hidden fees involved.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit their materials through the official digital channel. The application requirements include:

  1. Artistic Work: High-quality image files that accurately and professionally represent the artist's work (technical specifications are outlined within the form).
  2. Submission Limit: Exactly one application per artist or collective. Multiple entries will result in disqualification.
  3. Artwork Status: Previously exhibited works are fully acceptable for submission unless otherwise noted.
  4. Final Review: Applications cannot be altered, edited, or updated once they have been officially completed and submitted.

How to Apply?

All applications must be processed online through the designated Google Form link. Hand-delivered submissions, physical drops at the venue, or email portfolios will not be accepted.

Additional Details

Selected artists are entirely responsible for all logistics, shipping, transportation, and comprehensive insurance costs related to sending their artworks to Berlin and arranging their return, unless explicitly agreed otherwise in writing. Artists are strongly encouraged to maintain their own independent insurance coverage for their pieces. Detailed guidelines regarding physical delivery deadlines, venue liability, installation protocols, and marketing materials will be sent to the chosen lineup immediately following the July 23rd notification date.
