Title & Description

Hayama Artist Residency 2027 in Japan

Hayama Artist Residency 2027 is a four-week international residency for visual artists taking place in Hayama, a small coastal town in Kanagawa Prefecture. The program is designed around cultural immersion, artistic reflection, career development, and self-care.

Artists are not required to produce new work during the residency. Instead, the program encourages residents to use the period according to their own needs, with rest, research, reflection, and professional development among its central purposes. Scheduled activities and programs take place during the residency, including a group exhibition presenting the participating artists' work.

A key feature of the program is the opportunity to engage with Japan's contemporary art ecosystem and meet artists, curators, and gallery professionals. The residency's mission specifically includes providing international visual artists with an opportunity to have a gallery exhibition in Japan.
