Hosted by the Department of Architecture at Alanya University in Alanya, Antalya, Türkiye, the International Aesthetic Design Competition (IADC) is a global single-stage design initiative. The competition provides a scholarly platform for recognizing design excellence, creative innovation, and human-centered aesthetics in the built environment.

2nd International Aesthetic Design Competition (IADC2027): Call for Design Projects & Ideas

The Department of Architecture at Alanya University has opened entries for IADC2027. Operating under the theme “Aesthetic Design Ideas for a Better World,” the competition explores the transformative role of aesthetics in addressing contemporary spatial, cultural, environmental, and social challenges. Accepting both conceptual and completed/built projects, IADC2027 emphasizes that aesthetics extends beyond superficial decoration to shape human experience, spatial quality, cultural identity, and environmental performance.

Categories & Submission Classifications

Submissions are accepted under two broad classifications:

  1. Architecture: Architectural design, interior architecture, building-scale interventions, new buildings, adaptive reuse, renovation, regeneration, building envelopes, and facades.
  1. Urban Design: Neighborhood/district proposals, public spaces, streetscapes, waterfronts, urban corridors, green infrastructure, and urban-scale regeneration.

Eligibility

  • Student Category Focus: Open to students participating individually or in teams of up to 4 members. Academic instructors may join as supervisors or advisors.
  • Discipline Benchmark: At least one team member must be studying or hold a degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, or a closely related built-environment discipline.
  • Geographic & Age Scope: Open to participants from all countries worldwide with no age restrictions.
  • Project Status: Eligible projects may be conceptual, unbuilt, under development, or completed/built (developed independently or within academic course studios, theses, or workshops). There are no minimum or maximum site dimensions or building scales.

Program Benefits & Awards

  • First Prize: €400 EUR
  • Second Prize: €300 EUR
  • Third Prize: €100 EUR
  • Shortlisted Entries: 30 projects selected for special mentions/shortlist recognition.
  • Publication & Exhibition: Inclusion in the physical/digital exhibition, official result announcements, and publication in the official IADC2027 Competition Book (registered with an ISBN).

Registration Fees

  • Early Registration (Until February 28, 2027): €25 EUR per project.
  • Standard Registration (March 1 – March 29, 2027): €70 EUR per project.

Participants retain 100% intellectual property and authorship rights over their submitted designs. Entrants grant IADC non-exclusive rights to publish, exhibit, and archive submitted materials for legitimate competition documentation and promotional purposes.
