The competition is hosted by the Department of Architecture at Alanya University, a non-profit foundation university established in 2011 in Alanya, Antalya Province, Türkiye, by the Hamdullah Emin Paşa Foundation (renamed Alanya University in 2023). Instruction is conducted in English. The Department of Architecture, which opened in the 2014–2015 academic year, also organizes the annual International Conference of Contemporary Affairs in Architecture and Urbanism (ICCAUA) and runs the International Aesthetic Design Competition (IADC) as an extension of its international academic activities in architecture and urban design. The competition platform is hosted on an Open Journal Systems (OJS) site maintained by the department.

2nd International Aesthetic Design Competition (IADC2027) — "Aesthetic Design Ideas for a Better World"
IADC2027 invites architects, urban designers, interior architects, academics, professionals, and professionally supervised student teams from around the world to submit architectural and urban design projects, concepts, and ideas that demonstrate the transformative role of aesthetics in creating better built environments. The competition is single-stage and anonymously evaluated. It provides an international platform for recognizing design excellence, creativity, innovation, cultural expression, environmental responsibility, and the integration of aesthetics into architecture and urban design. Both conceptual/unbuilt and completed/built projects are eligible, and projects may be located anywhere in the world.
Theme
"Aesthetic Design Ideas for a Better World" — the competition explores the transformative role of aesthetics in architecture and urban design in addressing contemporary environmental, spatial, cultural, and social challenges. Participants are encouraged to present projects demonstrating how aesthetic thinking can contribute to better buildings, public spaces, neighbourhoods, urban environments, and communities, drawing on dimensions such as harmony and proportion, material selection, spatial composition, light and shadow, cultural and contextual relevance, sustainability, and visual impact (offered as guidance, not fixed limitations).

Eligibility
- Participation is international; participants from all countries and regions of the world are welcome
- Participants may submit projects individually or as teams of up to four members
- At least one member of each team must be studying or hold a degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, or another closely related built-environment discipline
- Operates under a Professional Category only for IADC2027; there is no separate Student Category, but students are encouraged to participate within professionally or academically supervised teams
- No age restrictions apply
- Participants may submit more than one project, but each project requires a separate registration, payment, and submission
- All registered team members must have made a genuine contribution to the submitted work
- Projects must comply with IADC's originality, authorship, anonymity, and ethical requirements

Additional Details
- Submission requires three compulsory components: a 200-word English project description (Microsoft Word format), one A2 horizontal project poster (PDF, max 20 MB), and the payment receipt
- Anonymous submission is mandatory: participant names, team member names, university names, company names, logos, and email addresses must not appear anywhere on the jury poster; failure to maintain anonymity may result in disqualification
- The registration-number area at the bottom-right of the official poster template must remain unchanged and blank; it is completed by the IADC administration
- Participants retain intellectual-property and authorship rights to their designs, but grant IADC permission to reproduce and display submitted materials for competition-related publication, exhibitions, the official competition book, the website, result announcements, academic communication, archives, and promotion
- Jury independence, confidentiality, and equal treatment are stated principles; participants must not contact jury members before results are announced
- Project submissions sent by email are not accepted
