Organizer Information

The LOEWE FOUNDATION was established in 1988 by Enrique Loewe Lynch, a fourth-generation member of LOEWE's founding family, and is today led by his daughter, Sheila Loewe. The Foundation promotes creativity, runs educational programmes, and safeguards heritage in poetry, dance, photography, art, and craft. In 2002, it received the Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts from the Spanish Government.

The LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize is regarded as one of the first international awards devoted to contemporary craft, with judging carried out by an expert panel and jury drawn from design, architecture, journalism, criticism, and museum curatorship. The Prize was launched in 2016 as a tribute to LOEWE's origins as a collective craft workshop founded in 1846, and it recognizes artistic merit and innovation in modern craftsmanship. Past editions have drawn thousands of entries from well over a hundred countries and regions, with the shortlist exhibited at major institutions such as the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid, the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, and National Gallery Singapore.

Title & Description

LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2027

It seeks to support artistic craft and acknowledge leading artisans worldwide who reinterpret tradition in ways that remain relevant to contemporary culture.
