Organizer Information

The Luxembourg Art Prize is organized by the Pinacothèque, a private museum located in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The Pinacothèque is a not-for-profit cultural and educational museum and does not receive any money from applicants — the registration fee collected from artists goes entirely toward the IT company that manages the website and the electronic submission system. Founded in 2015, the Prize was created to discover and promote talented artists — amateur or professional — who have not yet established a profile on the international contemporary art scene, and to give them a museum reference for their CV.

Title & Description

Luxembourg Art Prize — 12th Edition (2026)

The Luxembourg Art Prize is an annual international art prize open to any living artist, amateur or professional, working in graphic or decorative media, with no restriction on age, nationality, or place of residence. The only selection criterion applied by the Museum is artistic merit. Each year the Museum's selection committee names 24 finalists (8 from each of three registration groups), and an independent final jury then selects three winners from among the finalists. All participants judged noteworthy by the selection committee — finalists or not — receive an official certificate of artistic merit from the Museum.

Additional Details

  • Applicants are divided into three groups solely by registration closing date; registration in multiple groups is allowed if timing permits, though the Museum recommends registering with the group closest to the current date
  • The selection committee is chaired by Hervé Lancelin, the Museum Director; other committee members are not publicly disclosed, and the committee (aside from its chair) is renewed each year
  • The independent final jury is appointed by the Museum; Museum employees or their family members may not serve on it, and each juror must declare they are not related to any finalist
  • Each juror scores finalists on a point scale, with ties resolved by a new vote among tied artists only; point totals are not made public
  • Artists retain copyright over their works and application content; finalists and winners grant the Museum a free, unlimited right to reproduce their application content for the Museum's own communications
  • Personal data is processed under Luxembourg's data protection law (as amended August 2, 2002); applicants have rights of access, objection, and rectification, and may delete their account at any time
  • The Museum reserves the right to postpone or cancel the Prize, including for insufficient application quality; in a non-force-majeure cancellation, fees are refunded immediately
  • Governed by Luxembourg law; disputes go to the courts of the City of Luxembourg, with the French-language version of the rules controlling in case of translation dispute
