Organizer Information

This open call is jointly organized by Arts en résidence – Réseau national, a French national network founded to support and structure artist residencies in the visual arts sector, and Red Quincho, a national network of artist residencies in Argentina.

Arts en résidence is composed of a large group of member institutions across France and focuses on improving working conditions for artists in residence, fostering collaboration, and developing professional standards within the residency ecosystem. Red Quincho, established more recently, brings together more than 30 Argentine residency spaces and cultural operators with a shared goal of strengthening the visibility, inclusivity, and sustainability of residency practices across Argentina. The project is additionally supported by the French Institute in Argentina, highlighting its international cultural cooperation dimension.

Together, these organizations aim to create a structured dialogue between the French and Argentine contemporary art scenes through a nomadic curatorial residency model.

Title & Description

Curatorial Nomadic Residency Argentina 2026

This open call invites one curator, art critic, or researcher from the French art scene to participate in a six-week nomadic curatorial residency in Argentina, taking place between 5 October and 15 November 2026.

The residency is conceived not as a production-based program, but as a research-driven journey focused on encounters, exchanges, and field observation. The selected participant will travel through four different Argentine residency contexts, each hosted by a member of Red Quincho, and will engage directly with local artists, curators, and cultural practitioners.

The program’s core objectives are twofold:

  1. To support deep engagement with the Argentine contemporary art scene through structured encounters across multiple territories.
  2. To observe and analyze the functioning of the Argentine residency ecosystem, contributing to a comparative reflection on residency models in France and Argentina.

The residency also includes a broader curatorial research dimension linked to international cooperation and network-building practices in the arts.
