Onassis AiR is an international artistic research and residency program based in Athens, Greece. Having received over 7000 applications through our Open Calls and supported more than 200 Fellows over the past five years, the program has become a hub for cross-disciplinary thinking and exchange among local and international art practitioners and researchers.
Next season, the program enhances its function as an instigator of creative experimentation offering opportunities on four different strands:
-
The Onassis AiR Extended Research Residencies: A three-month residency program tailored for creators (individuals or collectives) seeking dedicated time and space to nurture, develop, or refine in-progress work, with the support and peer-to-peer connection needed to move their projects forward.
-
The Onassis AiR Dramaturgy Fellowships: A three-month fellowship for performing arts professionals from Greece or based in Greece, to develop a new theater, dance, and/or performing arts project that has not yet been presented.
-
The Onassis AiR/ONX Fellowships: A two-month fellowship for projects that combine immersive narratives, Mixed Realities and performative elements and address the potential of computational technologies to foster sustainable practices.
-
The Onassis AiR Technical Residencies: For the first time, Onassis AiR welcomes art professionals working in the technical areas of theater, dance, music, cinema, and digital productions for a three-month residency to advance their skills in Stage Management, Theater Production, Scenic / Lighting / Sound Design, and Art & Advanced Technologies projects.Onassis AiR awards a total of 33 residencies and fellowships. Selected participants will receive an artist’s fee, research budget, housing, travel to/from Athens, and more. Participants are encouraged to contribute to the Οnassis AiR Community through a workshop, screening, or any other format of their choice.
-
The program participants are invited to participate in the Onassis AiR Open Days, a series of events that run throughout the year and are open to the public. They are also encouraged to contribute to the Οnassis AiR Community by offering something back in the form of a workshop, in-progress presentation, lecture, screening, skill-sharing session, or any other format of their choice.
-
The residencies and fellowships will take place in three cycles: Fall (8 September 2025 – 5 December 2025), Spring (2 February 2026 – 30 April 2026) and Summer (11 May 2026 – 31 July 2026).
-
