The Malba Residencias de Escritores (REM) is organized by Malba Literatura, a department of the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (Malba). Malba is one of the most prominent cultural institutions in Latin America, dedicated to the collection, preservation, and exhibition of modern and contemporary art. The REM program was established to position Buenos Aires as a creative hub for global literature, fostering exchange between visiting international authors and the local Argentine cultural community.

REM: Malba Writers' Residency Program
The REM residency is a prestigious five-week program designed for international writers to live and work in the vibrant cultural landscape of Buenos Aires. The primary purpose is to provide authors with the time and space to develop a specific creative manuscript (novel, poetry, or non-fiction). Beyond solitary work, the program facilitates "literary cartographies," connecting residents with local figures and institutions to integrate them into the city’s rich intellectual life.

Eligibility
- Experience: Applicants must have at least three published books in the eligible genres.
- Exclusions: Academic papers and self-published works are not considered. Argentine writers residing abroad are excluded from selection.
- Language: For non-Spanish speakers, it is desirable (though not mandatory) to have works already translated into Spanish.
- Independence: Applicants must be able to work and navigate the city of Buenos Aires independently.

- Travel: Round-trip airline tickets from the author's home city to Buenos Aires.
- Accommodation: A dedicated apartment for the full duration of the stay.
- Stipend: A one-time stipend of USD 500 to contribute to living expenses.
- Public Exposure: Two public encounters (lectures or interviews) at Malba.
- Publication: The opportunity to have a short text (approx. 1,000 words) published on the Malba website.
- Networking: A curated agenda of activities with local cultural figures and institutions.
