The Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) is an international nonprofit membership organization founded at Harvard University in 1940, originally under the name Society of American Architectural Historians. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, SAH serves an international network of roughly 2,300 individual members and 600 institutional members across 54 countries, including architectural historians, architects, landscape architects, preservationists, and students. The Society's mission is to advance knowledge and understanding of the history of architecture, design, landscape, and urbanism worldwide, which it pursues through publications including the Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians (JSAH), SAH Archipedia, and the Buildings of the United States series, along with annual conferences, study tours, and a set of awards recognizing scholarly and professional achievement in the field — among them the SAH Fellows designation, the Society's highest honor.

Call for Nominations: 2027 SAH Fellows

SAH is seeking nominations for its class of 2027 Fellows, the Society's highest honor. The designation recognizes SAH members for significant, lifetime contributions to architectural history as a discipline and profession. Contributions considered may include scholarship, service to SAH, teaching, and stewardship of the built environment. Nominations may be submitted by any individual SAH member, and self-nomination is permitted through the online nomination form.

Additional Details

Nominations are first screened by the SAH Fellows Selection Committee, then submitted to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for final approval by vote at its regular November meeting. In exceptional circumstances, the Board of Directors may name Fellows at other times of the year.
