Short Description
SomoS Artist Residency Program offers cultivated, supportive and stimulating surroundings to international visiting artists wishing to realize an artistic project in Berlin. The artist residency, normally completed within three months, is focused on production, experience, critical discourse, networking, and local participation. Staying at SomoS, participants will become a part of a thriving artistic community with an active exhibition and event program and will easily and swiftly become well-acquainted with the creative, networked city that is Berlin.

The SomoS Berlin International Artist Residency offers a comprehensive and enriching program for international artists, curators, and researchers seeking to develop their projects within Berlin’s vibrant art scene.

- Description of the specific project proposal for the period of their residency, maximum 500 words
- Proposed dates of the residency, and alternative dates

- An artist statement
- A portfolio in PDF format

Program Benefits & Awards
- Live/Work Studios: Residents are provided with private, furnished studios ranging from 24 to 35 square meters, equipped with essential amenities such as worktables, chairs, beds, and professional LED lighting. Shared facilities include bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious social area, and a library.
- Curatorial and Staff Support: Throughout the residency, participants receive ongoing support from SomoS curators and staff, including regular consultation sessions, project reviews, and assistance with networking opportunities.
- Public Presentation Opportunities: At the conclusion of the residency, artists have the chance to present their work publicly through various formats such as exhibitions, artist talks, performances, or screenings, facilitated by SomoS.
- Community Engagement: Residents become part of an active artistic community, with access to workshops, screenings, exhibitions, and other events hosted by SomoS, fostering collaboration and cultural exchange.
- Documentation and Promotion: SomoS provides professional documentation of residents’ work, including essays and features on their website and social media channels, enhancing the artists’ visibility.
Entry Fee
The residency fee is €1,450 per month, which covers accommodation, studio space, participation in events, curatorial support, and promotional activities.
