The Eduard Bargheer Stiftung Fellowship

The Eduard Bargheer Stiftung Fellowship was established by the painter Eduard Bargheer (1901–1979) to support young visual artists, particularly painters. Bargheer himself benefited from scholarships early in his career, and through this foundation, he aimed to give back by funding young artists. Since 1978, the foundation has awarded fellowships to painters to support their artistic development, training, travel, and exhibitions.

Eligibility:

Age Limit: Applicants must be 30 years old or younger.
Nationality/Residency: Must be resident in Germany.

Submission Requirements:

Handwritten CV, including details of previous grants (if applicable) and exhibitions.
10 printed photos (postcard-sized) of artworks (no slides).
Description of artistic position and concept, possibly related to planned projects or further training.
Statement on financial situation (to demonstrate need).

Selection Process:

Initial Review: The Foundation Advisory Board evaluates applications and makes a preliminary selection.
Candidate Contact: Shortlisted applicants may be contacted for further discussion.
Final Decision: The advisory board proposes selected candidates to the Foundation Board, which makes the final funding decisions.
