The “Transition To 8: European societies in flux” (TT8) project is a pioneering initiative that merges social sciences, technology, and contemporary art to raise awareness about the impact of air pollution on European communities. The project engages local communities in participatory activities like bodystorming and sociodrama to record biometric and emotional responses to environmental issues. Data from these sessions is then integrated into digital moodboards for artists to use in creating original works of art that address the social and environmental challenges of air pollution and climate change.
Program Description: Selected artists will create visual, audiovisual, or sound works incorporating data (such as air quality, heart rate, body temperature, skin conductance) collected from community engagement sessions across three European cities: Eleusis (Greece), Rennes (France), and Ljubljana (Slovenia). The final works will be showcased in at least two to four territories, culminating in an exhibition in Yerevan, Armenia, in October 2026. The residency includes both digital and physical components, with artists engaging with local communities and collaborating with data analysts to create their works.
