Organizer Information
WOLDA is organized by the International Editorial-Design & Research Forum, an organization based in Meerbusch, Germany, led by designer Norbert Küpper. Küpper also organizes other design competitions, including the trends publications documenting each WOLDA edition, and has served as a WOLDA jury member alongside international designers, art directors, and creative agency partners. He is separately known as the founder of the European Newspaper Award, another design competition organized from Meerbusch, Germany.
WOLDA is a global competition for logos, identities, and packaging, aiming to showcase outstanding design and trends on an annual basis. It positions itself as an independent competition with no sponsors or advertising partners, funded exclusively through entry fees, and its jury is made up of experienced logo, identity, and packaging specialists from around the world, many of whom have themselves been successful WOLDA entrants and gone on to work with clients internationally. WOLDA was founded in Milan in 2006 and ran annually until 2010, producing four yearbooks, before being put on hold; it was successfully restarted in 2018 and has run annually since. Note: the organizer's own FAQ page separately states the restart took place in 2017, so there is a minor discrepancy in the source material regarding the exact restart year.
