Organizer Information

The Green Product Award has been recognizing sustainable products, services, and concepts since 2013, and describes itself as an international platform for design, innovation, and sustainability spanning 95 countries, with an annual media reach of over 7 million and more than 60,000 public votes cast each year. The award system is operated by White Lobster GmbH & Co. KG, a Berlin-based agency, while Green Future Club gUG — a legally independent, non-profit assessment and certification body — coordinates the expert jury process and monitors compliance with the published Scheme Rules. Assessment decisions are kept separate from any optional advisory or visibility services the organizers also offer. The Green Future Club's work educating young designers through the Green Concept Award is supported by IKEA Stiftung.

Title & Description

The Green Product Award & Green Concept Award 2027

This is an annual, criteria-based award recognizing sustainable products, services, and forward-looking concepts. The Green Product Award applies to products or services already on the market; the Green Concept Award applies to concepts that are not yet market-ready. Submissions are evaluated by an international expert jury against seven published criteria, and qualifying entries can also take part in a public vote. Finalists and winners receive a certificate, personalized jury feedback, and the right to use the corresponding seal for the awarded project.

Additional Details

  • Evaluation is based on seven criteria — Overall Approach, Elaboration, Impact, Market, Design, Innovation, and Sustainability — each scored 0–8 base points by the jury
  • Sustainability carries a gatekeeping function: a submission needs at least 3/8 points in Sustainability to be eligible for Finalist Seal use, and at least 5/8 with no material substantiation gap for Winner status; strong scores in other criteria cannot compensate for a weak or unsupported Sustainability score
  • The maximum weighted score is 56 points, with Sustainability weighted at 2.0, Innovation and Market each weighted at 0.5, and all other criteria weighted at 1.0
  • The Green Product Award Seal is valid for one year and subject to annual status review; it applies only to the specific evaluated product/service, not the whole company, and does not confirm general legal compliance
  • The Green Concept Award Seal recognizes a concept at its evaluated stage only; if the concept later becomes a market-ready product, a new Green Product Award submission is required for product-level seal use
  • The binding rules for eligibility, assessment, seal use, monitoring, renewal, suspension, and withdrawal are set out in a separate Full Scheme Rules document, linked from the Criteria page
