The 1646 – ReCNTR Residency offers a fully funded residency in The Hague, Netherlands for international artists or researchers. This residency focuses on exploring social and political issues through artistic practices, fostering collaboration between art and research. It aims to provide a retreat for developing ideas and connecting with a community of artists, researchers, and students.

How to Apply

  • First round: Submit an artist/research statement (max 100 words), a selection of 4 images representing 4 different projects, and a website link.
  • Second round (for invited candidates): Submit a project proposal (500 words), portfolio (max 30 pages), CV, and up to 3 publications (e.g., essays, interviews).
  • All submissions should be one PDF file (max 50MB).

  • First round: Artist/research statement, 4 images with brief descriptions, and website link.
  • Second round (for selected applicants): Project proposal, portfolio, CV, and up to 3 publications.

 

Selection Process

  • The selection process is in two rounds:
    • First round: 15 candidates will be selected to apply for the second round.
    • Second round: 3 candidates will be selected and invited for a video interview.
  • The selection committee evaluates the artistic and research quality of the portfolio and proposal, and the fit within the residency’s goals.
