Austrian Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport has announced a scholarship that supports professional film artists with an experimental and innovative approach, enabling them to develop film projects in the research and conception phase in an international context. The program facilitates networking, international collaborations, and project development abroad. Travel and accommodation arrangements are the responsibility of the artists.

Eligibility:
- Open to artists with Austrian citizenship or those with their main residence in Austria actively contributing to the Austrian art scene.
- Applicants must have already independently produced initial film works outside of an educational institution.
- Students (except PhD/postgraduate students) and recipients of other scholarships from the Federal Ministry for Art, Culture, Public Service and Sport in the current year are not eligible.

How to Apply:
Applications must be submitted via the online form for scholarships, purchases, and studios available through the Federal Ministry for Art, Culture, Public Service and Sport.
Submission Requirements:
- Application form (completed and signed)
- Project description (max. 2 pages) outlining the film-artistic project, objectives, methods, timeline, and expected outcomes
- Cover letter (1 page) justifying project location and partnerships
- Expressions of interest (optional) from institutions or collaborators
- Calculation of accommodation and travel costs
- CV with educational background and artistic career
- Portfolio (including links to two selected film works)
- Proof of residence (registration confirmation not older than 2 years) and graduation certificate
Selection Process:
- Applications must be submitted by February 24, 2025 (11:59 p.m.). Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
- An expert jury will evaluate applications, and selected candidates will be announced in March 2025.
- Applicants will receive results in writing; verbal justifications will not be provided.
Program Benefits/Awards:
- Five scholarships available
- Monthly stipend: €1,500
- Additional accommodation and travel cost reimbursement
- Duration: 1 to 3 months (depending on project needs)
- Single parents receive an additional €200/month, or €400/month if also receiving increased family allowance.
- The scholarship covers living and material expenses but does not fund film production costs.
- Travel should follow climate-friendly guidelines (e.g., no flights for distances under 700 km).
Funding and Reporting Requirements:
- Funded projects must acknowledge support using the BMKÖS logo.
- Within three months after completion, recipients must submit:
- Final report (max. 3 pages)
- Cost statement and receipts for accommodation and travel expenses
