La Maldita Estampa is a print studio and gallery in Barcelona, Spain, self-managed by artists and created with the specific aim of supporting other artists working in the field of printmaking. The organization positions itself as a space for the production, research, training, and dissemination of contemporary graphic arts, motivated by a belief in the importance of educating people about printmaking's creative processes and in building alternative production spaces so that the medium reaches a wider audience. La Maldita Estampa is a member of Res Artis, described on its own site as the largest existing network of vetted residency programs, active in more than 85 countries and founded in 1993. Through its Artistic Residencies programme, the studio hosts national and international artists, in part to encourage cultural tourism and cross-cultural exchange, and to help internationalize Catalan culture. The studio operates from a fully equipped space of more than 90 square metres for production plus a gallery of more than 30 square metres, located at C/ d'Aragó, 112 in Barcelona.

Barcelona Printmaking Residency 2026
La Maldita Estampa's Artists in Residence programme invites artists, curators, and national or international cultural managers from different artistic disciplines to develop or learn traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques in Barcelona. Residents work in the studio's shared workshop and gallery spaces, with the stated aim of letting each artist work as freely as they would in their own studio — developing, experimenting, and researching toward a finished body of work over the course of their stay.

Eligibility
- Open to artists, curators, and national or international cultural managers of different artistic disciplines
- Addressed to professional artists or artists in training who want to develop their artistic project in a different environment and context
- Open to those wishing to experiment with or learn a specific printmaking technique or various graphic techniques
Program Benefits & Awards
- Access to a fully equipped shared studio/workshop of 120 m² total, including a 90 m² production area and a "Clean Space"
- Access to the gallery space (30+ m²) for the diffusion and promotion of work produced during the residency
- Permanent technical support and guidance from La Maldita Estampa staff throughout the project
- Assistance finding accommodation (accommodation itself is not provided or covered)
- An Open Studio event at the end of the residency, where resident artists can present work to an invited public; the option of a solo exhibition in the gallery is also available (subject to separate "Additional Conditions" requiring advance planning)
- Letters of invitation provided on request, to support artists' applications for grants or subsidies from institutions in their home country

- Available printmaking techniques include direct techniques (burin, drypoint, mezzotint, etching, carborundum, monotype, collagraph), relief printing (linocut, woodcut, reduction linocut), and indirect techniques (aquatint, sugar engraving, soft ground, hard varnish, photoetching, mixography, lithography on plate, screenprinting, mokulito/Japanese lithography, cyanotype, Van Dyke, among others)
- Resident artists must specify their technical, material, and human support needs from the LME workshop in advance
- Accommodation is not included, but La Maldita Estampa assists artists in finding suitable lodging
- If an artist opts for a solo exhibition in the gallery as part of their Open Studio, they are asked to request information about "Additional Conditions," since this requires separate planning
