Call It By Its Name: Open Call for Mixed-Media Artworks
The curatorial team at Culterim Backshop has announced an open call for Call It By Its Name, a group mixed-media exhibition examining perpetrator accountability in domestic violence. Seeking new or existing works that engage thoughtfully, critically, or metaphorically with the theme, the exhibition aims to create a dedicated space for reflection, dialogue, and social awareness within contemporary visual art. Selected artworks will be presented in a two-week physical group exhibition in Berlin in February 2027.
Eligibility
- Age Benchmark: Open to creators aged 18 years and older.
- Career Stage: Open unconditionally to emerging, mid-career, and established artists.
- Format: Open to individual artists as well as collaborative artist collectives.
- Volume Limit: Each applicant or collective may submit up to 3 works.
Program Benefits & Awards
- Physical Exhibition Placement: Inclusion in a curated group exhibition at Culterim Backshop in Berlin from February 14 to February 28, 2027.
- Insurance Coverage: The organizers cover the full cost of insurance for all selected works for the duration of the exhibition.
- Financial Hardship Assistance: Artists facing financial constraints may request production and transportation support, allocated based on individual needs and available resources.

Additional Details
Artists retain full underlying copyright to their works, granting the organizers non-exclusive rights to reproduce images of selected pieces for documentation, exhibition catalog printing, and promotional outreach with full artist attribution.
