Organizer Information
The Seward Park Clay Studio (SPCS) is a community-based ceramics studio dedicated to fostering long-term artistic development, technical skill-building, and collaborative practice among clay artists. The residency program is structured as an embedded studio environment where artists work alongside a sustained community of resident practitioners, contributing to both individual artistic growth and collective studio culture.
SPCS operates as both a production and educational space, offering access to professional-grade ceramics facilities while maintaining a strong emphasis on community responsibility. Rather than functioning as a high-volume production studio, the organization prioritizes sustainable artistic practice, experimentation, and peer-supported learning within the field of Ceramic arts.
Title & Description
Seward Park Clay Studio Residency Program 2026 — Ceramics Artist Residency (1–3 Years)
The Seward Park Clay Studio Residency Program is a structured Residency opportunity for ceramic artists seeking dedicated studio access, technical development, and community integration. The program offers flexible residency durations ranging from one-year project-based residencies to three-year community-embedded residencies.
The residency is designed to support artists at different stages of practice, whether they are developing a focused body of work, preparing for exhibitions or academic applications, or seeking long-term engagement within an active ceramics studio environment. Residents benefit from 24/7 studio access, shared communal workspace, and continuous engagement with a professional clay artist community.
The program emphasizes both individual artistic production and collective responsibility. Residents are expected to participate in studio life, contribute to community initiatives, and engage in shared studio events such as exhibitions and public-facing programming. A key feature of the program is its integration of making, learning, and community service within a professional ceramics environment.
