Graner is a centre for dance and live arts creation in Barcelona and part of the Barcelona City Council’s Creative Factories Network. It is managed by Mercat de les Flors in collaboration with the Catalan Association of Dance Professionals (APDC) and the Association of Professional Dance Companies of Catalonia (ACPDC). Graner supports contemporary dance and live arts through artistic residencies, research, experimentation, education, professional exchange and local cultural initiatives. Its residency programme is structured around Research, Creation, Transmission, Thinking, Education and Local Action.

Graner Creative Grants 2027
Graner Creative Grants 2027 supports artistic creation and research through residencies taking place between January and December 2027. The call offers eight grant categories for artists, collectives and professionals working in dance and live arts, including an International category for practitioners whose work is primarily developed outside Spain and who have no direct or ongoing connection with the Catalan or Spanish artistic context.
Projects may focus on creation, artistic research, critical thinking, stage research, emerging practices or practical methodologies related to the body, movement and contemporary live arts. Selected residents receive financial support, workspace and varying forms of artistic, technical and professional support.

Eligibility
Applicants may be individuals, legal entities, groups of individuals or entities, common ownership entities and other eligible economic units capable of carrying out the proposed project. Applicants must meet the relevant tax and Social Security requirements.
Eligibility varies by category. The International category is specifically for artists, researchers and collectives based internationally whose practice is primarily developed outside Spain and who have no direct or ongoing connection with the Catalan or Spanish artistic context. Several other categories are restricted to local or national applicants, while Associated Artist and Emerging Artists are specifically intended for artists based in Catalonia.
Applicants may apply for a maximum of two categories, except for the International category, which is mutually exclusive with all other categories. Only one grant can ultimately be awarded to an applicant.
Program Benefits & Awards
The call provides 12 project places across eight categories, with grants ranging from €3,000 to €6,000:
- Associated Artist: €6,000 per year for 2027 and 2028; 1 place; two-year association and up to six weeks of residency.
- Creation: €6,000; 3 places; up to five weeks.
- Barcelona Crea Research: €6,000; 2 places; up to five weeks.
- Barcelona Crea Critical Thinking: €6,000; 1 place; up to five weeks.
- International: €3,000; 1 place; 2–4 weeks.
- Stage Research: €3,000; 1 place; up to four weeks, with technical resources and support.
- Emerging Artists: €3,000; 2 places; up to four weeks, including work at Can Gassol in Mataró.
- Practical Methodologies: €3,000; 1 place; up to four weeks.
Benefits can include workspace, technical residency opportunities, artistic support, possible specialised mentoring, shared office facilities, participation in workshops and laboratories, professional networking, communication and dissemination support, and participation in APLEC gatherings. The grants are paid 80% after acceptance and 20% after completion and justification.

Key Dates
- Application Deadline: 29 September 2026
- Residency Period: January–December 2027.
- Resolution: The maximum period for resolving and notifying the results is three months after the application deadline.
- Associated Artist: The residency association covers 2027–2028.

Additional Details
- Each category has specific documentation requirements, generally including an application form, artistic or project statement of up to 2,000 words, CV or biography, proposed work schedule and links to previous work. Some categories require additional material such as a motivation letter, research documentation, proof of residence or evidence of connection with Barcelona.
- Selected artists are expected to participate in meetings with the Graner team, provide information for communication and dissemination, and present or publicly document the creative or research process at the end of the residency. Graner may adjust the final residency calendar according to space availability.
- Important: renovation works will take place at Graner throughout 2027, which may affect the normal use of studio spaces.
