Fotogalleriet is seeking an experienced and visionary Artistic Director to lead the institution’s artistic, strategic, and operational development. This leadership role combines curatorial direction with organizational management, offering a unique opportunity for a contemporary art professional to shape one of Scandinavia’s most respected photography institutions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the gallery’s artistic vision, curating exhibitions and professional programs, managing staff and finances, and representing the organization nationally and internationally. The position is particularly suited to candidates with strong expertise in contemporary photography and lens-based artistic practices, combined with leadership experience and a broad professional network in the visual arts sector.

Position & Tasks

  • Plan and deliver the gallery’s annual exhibition program.
  • Curate and coordinate professional events, talks, and public programs.
  • Develop and implement Fotogalleriet’s strategic vision and long-term objectives.
  • Represent the institution publicly within the contemporary art and photography sectors.
  • Strengthen national and international partnerships and networks.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the organization.
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and grant administration.
  • Prepare and submit funding applications to public and private funders.
  • Supervise and manage staff members.
  • Oversee communications, marketing, and audience development activities.
  • Enhance the visibility and public profile of Fotogalleriet.

Eligibility
