Gallery Assistant Internship / Part-Time Position – Bricks Gallery (Copenhagen)

This opportunity is designed for students or early-career individuals interested in contemporary art, art history, visual culture, or modern cultural studies. The role is positioned within a small, hands-on gallery environment where candidates gain practical exposure to both the curatorial and commercial sides of the art world.

The position combines administrative, logistical, communicative, and exhibition-related tasks. It offers direct engagement with gallery operations, including artwork handling, customer interaction, exhibition preparation, and digital platform maintenance.

The program is not purely academic or theoretical; instead, it provides immersive professional experience in a functioning gallery system, bridging curatorial practice, art handling, and art market operations.

The Role Overview

  • Type: Part-time / student-adapted assistant position (non-academic employment role)
  • Contract: Flexible, adapted to study schedule
  • Salary/Fee: To be agreed based on qualifications
  • Working hours:
    • Approximately 2 days per week (preferred: Wednesdays and Fridays, 12:00–18:00)
    • Approximately every third Saturday (11:00–16:00)
    • Additional hours during openings, exhibitions, and events as needed
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Reporting to: Gallery team / internal gallery staff
  • Work environment: Small, collaborative gallery team operating in both exhibition and commercial art contexts

Position & Tasks

The assistant will support a wide range of gallery operations:

1. Registration, Logistics & Database Management

  • Registering and updating artworks and editions in Artlogic and Shopify
  • Inventory management and stock updates
  • Packing and shipping artworks and webshop orders
  • Procurement of materials (packaging, office supplies, etc.)
  • Website maintenance support

2. Customer Interaction

  • Welcoming visitors and engaging with clients
  • Handling inquiries via phone and forwarding them appropriately
  • Supporting sales-related communication

3. Exhibition & Event Support

  • Assisting with the installation and de-installation of exhibitions
  • Supporting art fairs, openings, and gallery events
  • Preparing checklists and exhibition documentation
  • Ensuring presentation standards in gallery spaces

4. Communication Support

  • Assistance with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook)
  • General communication tasks supporting gallery visibility
