Grid Photo Gallery has announced its 2026 international open call, Animals, inviting global photographers to submit individual works that examine the presence, meaning, and visual power of animal life. The theme is intentionally broad, moving beyond basic natural documentation to explore animals as active forces that shape the meaning, atmosphere, and visual tension of a photograph. Animals may appear as companions, wild subjects, symbols, or quiet Details within urban or domestic landscapes. Curation focuses on visual clarity, thematic sensitivity, and strong photographic composition, culminating in a highly visible, curated global online exhibition accessible worldwide.
Categories
The competition is dedicated to Photography and Lens-Based Media across all conceptual and technical approaches, including wildlife, documentary, portraiture, fine art, conceptual, studio, and experimental photography.
Eligibility
- Geographic Scope: Completely open to photographers of any nationality living and working worldwide.
- Age Requirement: Entrants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of submission.
- No Material Limitations: Photographers are free to capture scenes across natural environments, staged studios, domestic spaces, or urban settings.
Program Benefits & Awards
Selected works will be integrated into the gallery’s official program with several tiers of recognition:
- 1st Place ("Photographer of the Month"): Prominent showcase placement in the virtual exhibition, an in-depth profile interview published on the gallery platform, priority placement on promotional banners and posters, and one free entry to the next open call.
- 2nd & 3rd Places: Featured and highlighted positioning inside the curated virtual exhibition environment.
- All Selected Entries: Main-page display for at least one month (retaining a permanent online archive spot afterward), social media promotion, a personalized digital profile page with a direct link to the artist's website, and an official digital certificate of participation.
- Yearbook & Print Catalog: Selected pieces will be published in a professionally printed physical catalog available for public purchase.
- Top-Tier Selection: The top three photographs will automatically be entered into the running for the "Photography of the Year" grand title.
Application Fee
- Single Image Fee: €7 per image.
- Volume Rules: There is no maximum limit to the number of individual photographs an artist can submit.
- Policy Note: All application fees are strictly non-refundable and must be processed digitally to complete registration.
How to Apply?
All entries must be uploaded digitally via the official portal. Changes or technical modifications to individual submissions are not permitted once the overall entry period has closed.

By entering, artists grant Grid Photo Gallery a non-exclusive, perpetual license to display, reproduce, and promote the selected work in virtual exhibitions, catalog printings, and public promotional channels. All content must have artistic or documentary value; submissions containing illegal, abusive, discriminatory, or rights-infringing material will be removed.
