IETM – International network for contemporary performing arts is one of the world’s oldest and largest international cultural networks dedicated to contemporary performing arts. Founded over 45 years ago, IETM connects hundreds of members from more than 65 countries and supports international collaboration, knowledge exchange, advocacy, research, and professional development within the performing arts sector.
Through events, training programmes, publications, partnerships, and networking opportunities, IETM works to strengthen the global performing arts community by promoting inclusive, diverse, accessible, and sustainable practices. The IETM Global Connect programme is created with the support of IETM Associate Members and aims to bring new voices, perspectives, and experiences from underrepresented regions into international arts conversations.
Since 2021, the programme has supported 64 Global Connectors from five continents, helping performing arts professionals expand their networks, share knowledge, and create new international collaborations.
Title & Description
IETM Global Connect 2027 Open Call
IETM Global Connect 2027 is an international professional development and networking programme designed for performing arts leaders and innovators from around the world. The programme invites professionals who are passionate about connecting their local artistic contexts with the international performing arts community.
Selected participants, known as Global Connectors, will contribute their perspectives to IETM’s global network while gaining access to international collaboration opportunities, peer learning, and professional resources.
The 2027 edition will select 10 performing arts professionals who demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusion, diversity, equality, and sustainability within their artistic practices. Participants will join a global network of producers, artists, managers, presenters, and cultural professionals working across contemporary performing arts.

Note: Live music is not considered part of the performing arts category for this programme.
Eligibility
The open call is open to performing arts professionals worldwide, including artists, producers, managers, presenters, and other cultural practitioners working either independently or within organisations.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be currently active in contemporary performing arts (excluding live music).
- Have a minimum of five years of professional experience in the performing arts sector.
- Be based anywhere in the world.
- Demonstrate commitment to equality, inclusion, diversity, and sustainability through their professional work.
- Be proficient in English, as it is the working language of IETM.
- Be available to travel to Larnaka, Cyprus, from 25–28 May 2027 for the IETM Plenary Meeting.
- Be eligible to obtain a Schengen visa if required.
Special attention will be given to applicants from regions with limited IETM representation and professionals from underrepresented communities within the performing arts field.
Current IETM members and previous Global Connect Alumni are not eligible to apply.
Program Benefits & Awards
Selected Global Connectors will receive:
- Five-year free IETM membership (2027–2031) with access to full membership benefits, including:
- Free registration for IETM events.
- Free participation in training programmes and membership activities.
- Access to IETM’s digital platform, newsletters, and professional resources.
- Opportunities to connect with international partners and collaborators.
- Ability to participate in IETM governance activities.
- Online professional development and networking activities from January to May 2027, including:
- Introductory sessions with fellow Global Connectors.
- Individual meetings with the IETM team.
- Networking sessions with international peers.
- Online discussions exploring contemporary performing arts practices, aesthetics, and global perspectives.
- Sessions with previous Global Connect Alumni.
- Funding support to attend the IETM Plenary Meeting 2027 in Larnaka, Cyprus, including:
- Travel costs.
- Accommodation.
- Visa expenses.
- Other relevant participation costs.
During the Plenary Meeting, participants will access talks, workshops, networking activities, and exclusive sessions with Global Connectors and alumni.
