Launching an Independent Art Space: Conceptual and Practical Skills (2026)

This four-week online course provides a comprehensive introduction to establishing an independent art space, also known as a project space or artist-run initiative. The program is designed for artists, curators, and cultural practitioners who want to develop their own Exhibition platform and learn how to structure sustainable independent cultural initiatives.

Participants will explore both conceptual and practical dimensions of building an independent space, including curatorial positioning, financial planning, audience development, and communication strategies. The course encourages participants to either develop a new idea or refine an existing project into a structured operational model.

Throughout the program, participants will engage with case studies of successful project spaces and examine historical and contemporary models of independent cultural production.
