This is Gender (TiG) is a global visual storytelling initiative housed within Global 50/50, an independent think tank focused on advancing gender justice through research, data, advocacy, and institutional accountability. TiG uses photography and visual culture to challenge dominant narratives around gender and representation. Its photography competitions attract thousands of submissions internationally, with selected work presented through exhibitions, media platforms, publications, campaigns, and Global 50/50 reports.

Regional Curatorial Fellowship – This is Gender (TiG), Global 50/50
This inaugural fellowship offers regional curators and cultural practitioners the opportunity to become directly involved in the next edition of TiG's global photography competition. For the first time, regional fellows will participate in the competition's curatorial process, helping shape its framing, outreach, selection, interpretation, and presentation.
Fellows will work with a large international submission pool and contribute regional, cultural, and contextual perspectives to decisions about which photographic practices are platformed and how they are understood. They will also contribute to exhibitions, editorial texts, digital storytelling, interviews, social media activations, and other public-facing outputs.
The programme is particularly concerned with questions of gender, power, representation, visual justice, and cultural context.

Eligibility
The fellowship is open internationally to curators, critics, writers, researchers, artistic directors, photographers, and cultural practitioners from global majority contexts and historically underrepresented communities. Applicants may be based in or connected to regions including Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Oceania, and diasporic communities worldwide.
Early-career practitioners and recent graduates are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants do not need to hold a formal curatorial title.
Strong candidates should demonstrate contextual knowledge, engagement with photography or visual culture, critical thinking, regional networks or outreach potential, and an interest in gender, representation, and power.
