The Xia Jing-Shan Arts and Culture Foundation is a Taiwan-based nonprofit cultural organization established in 2014 by artist Xia Jing-Shan. The Foundation works to preserve and promote Xia Jing-Shan’s painting and calligraphy heritage through exhibitions, academic exchange, cultural programs, and creative initiatives. Since 2017, it has organized the Jing Shan creative arts competition to encourage new generations of creators to engage with traditional Chinese art while developing contemporary forms of artistic and cultural expression. The 2026 edition marks the fifth edition of the competition and introduces the new name Jing Shan New Creation Award.

Jing Shan Creative Art Awards 2026/2027
The Jing Shan Creative Art Awards 2026/2027 invites creators to develop innovative works inspired by the artistic spirit of Xia Jing-Shan under the theme “Between & Beyond.” The theme explores the possibilities found between boundaries and encourages participants to move beyond established divisions between tradition and contemporary life, art and everyday experience, religion and humanity.
Applicants are invited to create works that combine aesthetic quality, functionality, creativity, and social or cultural depth. Submissions should be inspired by Xia Jing-Shan’s paintings and calligraphy while responding to contemporary needs through new ideas, interdisciplinary approaches, or innovative applications.
Categories
- Brand & Visual Communication Design: Brand positioning, slogans, logos, visual identity, publications, websites, packaging, and integrated communication concepts.
- Product Design: Mass-producible products including household goods, stationery, gifts, packaging, communication products, appliances, and related designs.
- Sculpture / Three-Dimensional Design: Sculpture, installation, models, and other three-dimensional creative works.
- Multimedia Storytelling: Animation, comics, video, sound, and related multimedia works presented through storytelling.
Eligibility
The competition is open internationally to individual applicants and teams of up to five members, regardless of nationality. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Submitted works must be original creations completed on or after June 1, 2026, and must be developed from Xia Jing-Shan’s paintings or artistic concepts.
Program Benefits & Awards
Cash prizes are offered across the competition categories. The Brand & Visual Communication Design category offers a Special Award of NT$120,000. Product Design awards include NT$100,000 for the Jing Shan Award, NT$80,000 for Silver, NT$50,000 for Bronze, plus Best Concept and Best Popularity Awards of NT$20,000 each.
The Sculpture / Three-Dimensional Design category offers NT$150,000, NT$100,000, and NT$60,000 for its principal awards, with additional NT$50,000 Best Concept and Best Popularity Awards. Multimedia Storytelling offers NT$100,000, NT$80,000, and NT$60,000, plus NT$30,000 Best Concept and Best Popularity Awards. Selected entrants in the three general categories may also receive exhibition opportunities, trophies, and certificates.

Additional Details
Works are evaluated according to application and practicality (40%), creativity (30%), connection to Xia Jing-Shan’s art or creative spirit (20%), and artistic quality (10%). Applicants may use image materials supplied by the Foundation, subject to its stated usage requirements.
