Organizer Information

Marble House Project is a multidisciplinary artist residency program based in Vermont, United States, dedicated to fostering collaboration, ecological awareness, and cross-disciplinary exchange. The residency is grounded in the belief that artistic creation—whether in studio practice or in direct engagement with nature—expands human potential and strengthens community structures.

Located in a historic 19th-century estate, the program integrates environmental sustainability, shared living systems, and communal responsibility into its core structure. Residents participate in organic food production, shared cooking duties, and collective stewardship of the land, creating a socially embedded environment where artistic practice and ecological awareness intersect.

The residency brings together artists, writers, performers, and creative practitioners from diverse backgrounds, emphasizing dialogue, collaboration, and experimental approaches to making work within a shared ecosystem.

Title & Description

Marble House Project Artist-in-Residence Program 2027 (USA)

The Marble House Project Artist-in-Residence Program is an international Residency opportunity designed for artists seeking a collaborative, environmentally engaged, and community-oriented working environment.

Taking place across multiple sessions between April and November 2027, the residency hosts small cohorts of eight artists per session, ensuring an intimate and highly interactive experience. Residents live and work together in a communal historic residence while developing their artistic practices across disciplines.

The program emphasizes multidisciplinary exchange, encouraging participants to engage not only with their own creative development but also with shared responsibilities such as communal cooking, group dialogue, and participation in ecological stewardship activities. Selected artists are invited to contribute to a living environment shaped by sustainability principles, including organic food production and land-based practices.

Artists may participate in structured and informal exchanges with visiting practitioners, thinkers, and cultural workers. Each residency culminates in a public-facing presentation format such as talks, performances, or open studio events, enabling engagement with the surrounding rural community.

The residency is designed as a platform for experimentation, collaboration, and reflection, particularly for artists interested in the intersection of contemporary art practice and ecological systems.
