The New York Art Residency and Studios (NARS) Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit arts organization founded in 2006 (gaining formal non-profit status in 2010), based in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. NARS supports emerging and mid-career artists and curators on an international level through short-term integrated residency programs, affordable long-term studio spaces, an active exhibition program, international exchanges, and public programs, while also engaging the local South Brooklyn community through educational outreach initiatives. Its International Artist Residency Program runs three- and six-month residencies open to both international and US-based artists, offering 24/7 access to furnished private or shared studios, monthly studio visits with visiting critics, and presentation opportunities including gallery exhibitions and bi-annual Open Studios.

NARS Curatorial Fellowship — 2026 Fall Open Call
The NARS Curatorial Fellowship runs concurrently with the International Residency Program seasons. The Curatorial Fellow works closely with the artists-in-residence and NARS staff to develop an exhibition to be shown in the NARS Main Gallery during each residency season. Over a two-season, six-month fellowship period (Season I and Season II, January–June 2027), the Curatorial Fellow engages with two cohorts of International Residency Artists, helping them develop their work toward a group exhibition for each three-month season, with each exhibition on view during the final month of its respective season. The fellowship is designed for emerging curators seeking to work with artists from a range of backgrounds and disciplines, complementing and enhancing the established International Residency Program while fostering new perspectives for both curator and residency artists.

Eligibility
- Open to curators of any age, gender, and nationality
- Must be currently based in New York City and have lived in NYC for at least 3 years
- Emerging curators are highly encouraged to apply
- Curators who are or will be enrolled in a college or university art degree-granting program during the fellowship period are not eligible
Program Benefits & Awards
- $3,000 stipend for the six-month fellowship
