The Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History (BHMPI), in collaboration with the Institut national d’histoire de l’art (INHA), is a leading international research institute dedicated to art historical scholarship. The institutions provide extensive Digital Humanities resources and foster transnational research collaborations between Paris and Rome. Both partners emphasize interdisciplinary, innovative, and experimental approaches, supporting doctoral and postdoctoral scholars in advancing art historical research.

Title & Description

Paris–Rome Fellowship in Digital Art History 2026/27
This three- to six-month Fellowship supports doctoral and postdoctoral researchers pursuing interdisciplinary projects in Digital Humanities and Art History. Fellows gain access to the digital resources and expert guidance at INHA and BHMPI, alternating their residence between Paris and Rome. The program encourages innovative use of technology for research, collaboration with expert teams, and open-access dissemination of results. Exceptional 2026 applicants may extend their stay in Rome for up to two additional months to further utilize complementary resources at partner institutes.
