Short Description

SMABF is a non-profit artist-led intersectional salon that welcomes since 2013 individual artists, informal collectives, and more structured publishing houses, promoting a broad and open view on different languages (drawing, graphics, typography, photography, and writing) and formats (zines, magazines, and books). The ABF is accompanied by a public program of talks, performances, screenings, and exhibitions that sometimes anticipates or continues after the ABF.

Eligibility

– SMABF is dedicated to giving a platform to authors and publishers and is not open to bookstores or distributors except for specific cases by direct invitation.

•Apply only if you can commit to participating in the duration of the ABF and thus in the following programme:

– Saturday 29 November 2025

Public access is from 11.00 to 21.00 | Access for table set-up is from 10.00 a.m.

– Sunday 30 November 2025

Public access from 11.00 to 21.00 | Access for dismantling tables until 10.00 p.m.

•SMABF focuses primarily on paper materials. We ask that you limit the display of clothing to only one type of t-shirt, tote bag or other garment (variations in color and size are accepted). LPs or cassettes must always be accompanied by paper editions.

•If your application is successful, we kindly ask you to donate a selection of titles to SPRINT. These books are selected by our team on the first day of the fair and will be used to enrich our archive, given to volunteers, or contribute to a possible future fundraising raffle (at our discretion). We ask to be able to freely choose for 2 titles per publisher (in the case of zine 3), with a total amount not exceeding € 100. We appreciate your understanding and respect for refraining from giving us copies of heavily worn titles.

• We ask the selected companies not to participate in events similar to SPRINT (e.g. markets of any kind) in the MONTH of NOVEMBER in Milan and Lombardy and Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 NOVEMBER in Italy. Ubiquity can be a great asset, but we prefer realities that are willing to focus on the “here and now” with us.

•We remind you that companies that have only one publication to their credit are rarer to be selected.

For those who don’t know us yet: we believe in promoting an authentic community, built on support, accessibility and a horizontal approach. As an intersectional non-profit organization led by artist3 who work to keep SMABF free for the editric3 and the public, we are dedicated to providing a platform for collaboration and mutual respect. While our commitment to inclusivity and accessibility may seem plentiful, we encourage reflection on the efforts and resources invested to maintain this ethos. We continue to appreciate and support the community spirit that makes these efforts possible.

We do not accept any discriminatory behavior:

No racism, no fascism, no sexism, no lesbian/trans/homophobia, no support for genocide
