Organizer Information
Stove Works Residency is an artist-run residency program based in the United States that hosts international and local practitioners across contemporary Visual Arts and interdisciplinary fields. Running annually from February to November, the program supports emerging and established artists by providing structured time, space, and material resources for research and production.
The residency emphasizes process over output, encouraging artists to develop work in a self-directed environment without curatorial constraints. Alongside private studios and living accommodations, Stove Works fosters a collaborative environment where residents engage with peers, workshops, and community programming. The institution operates as both a production site and a cultural platform, integrating Workshops, Residency, and public engagement opportunities within a shared creative ecosystem.
Title & Description
Stove Works Artist Residency – February–November 2026 Open Call
This Residency program invites artists from around the world to apply for a flexible stay of one to three months at Stove Works’ production-based campus. The residency is designed as a dedicated retreat from professional and personal demands, offering uninterrupted time for experimentation, research, and creative development across multiple disciplines.
Selected participants will join a cohort of over 60 residents throughout the 2026 cycle, contributing to an evolving community of makers, thinkers, and cultural practitioners. The program does not impose thematic or output requirements; instead, artists are encouraged to determine their own goals, whether focused on material production, conceptual research, or interdisciplinary exploration.
Residents are provided with access to extensive facilities, including metal, wood, and print shops, as well as private studios and communal spaces. While participation in public programming is optional, it is encouraged as a means of engaging with broader audiences and expanding dialogue around artistic practice.
The residency prioritizes autonomy, collaboration, and experimentation, positioning itself as a flexible environment where artistic processes can evolve organically.
