The Ukraine Solidarity Residencies Programme (USRP) was established in 2022 by independent art organizations to support Ukrainian and Ukraine-based artists and arts practitioners affected by the war in Ukraine. The 2027 programme is supported by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture and delivered through a network of Finnish residency partners: HIAP, Art Centre Salmela, Vantaa Artists Association, Värtsilä Art House, Nelimarkka Museum, Fairres, and AARK.

Open Call for Ukrainian and Ukraine-Based Artists in Finland 2027

The Open Call for Ukrainian and Ukraine-Based Artists in Finland 2027 offers professional artists and arts practitioners the opportunity to undertake a one- to three-month residency in Finland between January and July 2027, with possible extensions.

Residencies take place at partner organizations across Finland, offering artists dedicated living and working spaces in locations ranging from the Turku Archipelago and Porvoo to Helsinki, Alajärvi, Vantaa, Mäntyharju, and North Karelia. Some locations can accommodate artists with family members.

The programme aims to provide practical and financial support, enabling Ukrainian and Ukraine-based artists affected by the war to continue their artistic practices while developing sustainable international support networks.

Eligibility

The call is open to professional Ukrainian or Ukraine-based artists and arts practitioners who have been affected by the war in Ukraine. Applicants from all artistic disciplines are welcome.

People who are LGBTQIA+, disabled, and/or from working-class or low socioeconomic backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply. The programme also provides an access budget for disabled artists.

Program Benefits & Awards

  • €1,200 working grant per month
  • One return trip between the artist's home and Finland

Residency facilities vary. Some include studios, workshops, galleries, gardens, specialist equipment, or access to local cultural communities.

  • Applicants may indicate preferred residency locations and duration in the application. Portfolio links must be accessible without passwords or other restrictions.
  • Audio/video answers must be submitted as continuous, unedited recordings without music, filters, text overlays, or special effects. Professional production quality is not required.
