Velvetpark Media hosts its 6th annual residency program to support the creative growth of LGBTQ+ artists. The program is dedicated to providing space and visibility for queer creators, fostering artistic excellence within the LGBTQ+ community.

Velvetpark 6th Annual LGBTQ+ Visual Artist Residency 2026
This 7-week season-long residency offers a dedicated studio environment for LGBTQ+ artists to develop new work or continue their current practice. Located in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, the residency provides a professional setting for artists to immerse themselves in the New York City art scene during the summer months.

Eligibility
- Identity: Open to LGBTQ+ artists.
- Location: Open to artists across the United States.
- Career Stage: Open to both emerging and established artists.
- Education: Designed for artists not currently enrolled in an academic program.
Program Benefits and Awards
- Studio Space: A 114 sq ft studio (14′ x 8′) at Crown Studios with 12′ ceilings, a large 6′ x 6′ window, and 24/7 access.
- Duration: One 7-week term from July to August 2026.
- Support: A professional live/work environment in a vibrant Brooklyn artist hub.
Fees
- Application Fee: $25.00.
Application Requirements
- Proposal: A project description between 100–250 words.
- Work Samples: 10 work samples compiled into a single .PDF document (max 10MB).
- Documentation: A CV/resume and a project timeline.
- References: Contact info for two references (one professional, one personal).
