Short Description
Located in the heart of the old town Vallauris, A.I.R. Vallauris (Artists in Residence), a non-profit association, welcomes artists from around the world to its lodgings and studios to meet with local artists and to research and create new works in a unique setting, A.I.R. Vallauris has welcomed over 500 international artists since its creation in 2001.
Now in its 23rd season of residency, A.I.R. Vallauris has welcomed artists from around the world to its lodgings and studios to meet with local artists and to research and create new works in a unique setting.
Two different residency programs are available :
Applicants considered for the Atelier Tremplin programme are recent graduates from an undergraduate or graduate degree in ceramics. We encourage students from all over the world, with a graduate degree in ceramics, to apply. Atelier Tremplin is seeking students who are willing to be immersed in the culture of the area and the local community.
Eligibility
- Professional artists from any discipline (ceramics, fine arts, crafts, design, sculpture, architecture, filmmaking, etc.) actively working independently.
- At least two years of independent artistic practice is required

Program Benefits & Awards
- Accommodation consists of private bedrooms with shared bathrooms.
- A.I.R Vallauris resources for firing (kiln) are provided but the cost for materials (clay, glazes, kiln firings) and food are borne by each artist.
- The fee for programme registration is available upon request.
The exhibition “Invitation au voyage” reflects the concept of our residency by inviting you to discover contemporary art from different countries through a selection of works created in residency by numerous international artists. This artistic event takes place in the Salle Francis Crociani, a municipal space belonging to the town of Vallauris. Francis Crociani (1929-2023) is a legendary Vallauris ceramist and painter.
