Organizer Information

The Dora Maar Cultural Center is an arts and ideas organization based at the historic Dora Maar House and Hôtel de Tingry in Ménerbes, France. Its mission is to support artists, writers, scholars, and other creative professionals through residencies, exhibitions, lectures, and cultural events. The residency program, originally established in 2007 as the Nancy B. Negley Artists Residency Program, provides mid-career professionals with dedicated time and space to develop their work. The program emphasizes creativity, interdisciplinary exchange, cultural preservation, diversity, and engagement with both local and international communities.

Title & Description

La Maison Dora Maar et L’Hôtel Tingry Fellowship

The Dora Maar House Fellowship offers one- to two-month residencies to established, mid-career professionals working across the arts and humanities. Fellows are invited to use their residency period to concentrate on a specific artistic, literary, scholarly, or creative project in the distinctive environment of Ménerbes.

The fellowship is intended for professionals with an established body of work rather than emerging artists. Applicants should propose a clearly defined project they intend to develop during their stay and explain the amount of time required to accomplish their goals.

Additional Details

Applicants should demonstrate that they can work independently and live within a small community of fellows. Selection also considers project quality, available space, fellowship funding, community fit, the applicant’s ability to represent the program, French-language ability, and the dynamics of other residents during the requested period. Applicants should apply well before the deadline because technical problems with online submissions have occurred in previous cycles.
