The University of Silesia in Katowice invites applications for a post-doctoral research position within a major NCN-funded project exploring the internationalization of art historiography in post-war Poland. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary humanities research environment and contribute to advanced scholarly investigations concerning art history, intellectual history, historiography, and international scientific exchange.
The selected researcher will work closely with the project leader, Dr. Patricia García-Montón González, conducting archival and historical research related to the work and influence of Jan Białystok, one of the most significant Polish art historians of the twentieth century. The position offers an opportunity to participate in an internationally oriented academic project while developing independent research activities and contributing to publications and scholarly dissemination.

Position & Tasks
- Conducting scientific research in the discipline of art history and art studies.
- Investigating topics related to historiography, intellectual history, and international scholarly exchange.
- Participating in the implementation of project objectives under the supervision of Dr. Patricia García-Montón González.
- Conducting archival and historical research.
- Producing academic publications and research outputs.

Eligibility
- Hold a doctoral degree in Art History or Art Sciences.
- Have obtained their PhD no earlier than 12 years before the employment date.
- Demonstrate research experience in art history and related fields.
- Show strong familiarity with Polish art historiography.
- Possess publications indexed in Scopus and/or Web of Science.
- Demonstrate international academic engagement through conferences, publications, collaborations, or research stays.
- Have strong proficiency in Polish and English.
- Possess working knowledge of French and/or German sufficient for archival and source research.
- Meet eligibility requirements established by the National Science Centre (NCN) and Polish higher education regulations.
Preference will be given to applicants with:
- Expertise in twentieth-century art historiography.
- Experience in historical and archival research methodologies.
- Experience applying for externally funded research projects.
- Previous international research collaboration experience.
