Organizer Information

The Musée Camille Claudel in Nogent-sur-Seine is dedicated to sculpture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with particular emphasis on the work of Camille Claudel. The residency is jointly organized with the Association Tournefou, a multidisciplinary artistic and cultural center in Pâlis, in the Aube department. Tournefou has operated as an artist residency and cultural venue since 2009, hosting artists, exhibitions, concerts, educational activities, and public programs. The residency is also supported by the Aube Departmental Council and private sponsors.

The program brings together two complementary locations approximately 30 km apart: the museum, with its historic sculpture collections, and Tournefou, a rural artist community focused on artistic practice, cultural exchange, and public engagement.

Title & Description

Musée Camille Claudel & Association Tournefou: Ceramic Artist Residency

Résidence pour artiste céramiste – Musée Camille Claudel & Association Tournefou is a paid research and creation residency for one ceramic artist from 20 September to 22 November 2027.

The selected artist will develop an original contemporary ceramic project inspired by the history of art of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The project should establish connections between historical and contemporary artistic practices, the collections of the Musée Camille Claudel, the artist's own perspective, and the local territory.

The residency combines independent artistic research with public engagement. The artist will participate in two paid public mediation workshops, one at the museum and one at Tournefou, followed by a presentation of the completed residency work at the Musée Camille Claudel.
