Narva Art Residency (NART) is a cultural platform founded in 2015. It facilitates residencies, art exhibitions, talks and educational workshops. It is located in Narva city on the Estonian-Russian border on the historical Kreenholm site. The international artist-in-residency programme is open for artists operating across a wide range of disciplines.

Finno-Ugric Creative Residency in Narva 2026
Narva Art Residency has officially announced the open call for the second edition of its Finno-Ugric creative residency, scheduled to take place during the final months of 2026. First launched in 2025 as a core pillar of the Narva Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture program, this residency frames contemporary art as a vital tool for strengthening regional identity and generating international dialogue around vulnerable indigenous groups. The program seeks unique, research-driven art projects that introduce Finno-Ugric culture in engaging forms. The chosen resident will use NART's collaborative environment to develop their own projects, interface with the local border community, and lead specialized educational workshops for fashion design students at the Estonian Academy of Arts.

Eligibility
- Cultural Ties: Open to contemporary artists and creative individuals with roots from or strong ties to the Finno-Ugric peoples.
- Geographic/Funding Scope: Due to the structural integration of the supporting Erasmus+ framework, applications are restricted to practitioners residing within Erasmus+ eligible partner countries.
- Language Benchmark: The residency is granted to a single artist or creative practitioner, and the application files must be filled out entirely in English.
Program Benefits & Awards
- Financial Per Diem Support: A total Erasmus+ per diem stipend of €1,700 for the duration of the residency block, calculated at a flat rate of €170 per day to cover daily costs, studio supplies, and on-site lodging fees.
- Dedicated Workspace & Amenities: Access to common working spaces, a shared kitchen, shared washing facilities, and curated exploratory access to the historic Kreenholm factory site.
- Production Funding: Complete financial coverage for materials or specific technical needs that go directly toward producing the finalized contemporary artwork.
- Travel Cost Reimbursement: Separate travel funding is provided in addition to daily per diems, calculated following Erasmus+ distance matrix guidelines between the artist's permanent place of domicile and Narva, Estonia.
- Institutional Teaching Profile: Direct curatorial integration into the Estonian Academy of Arts network through paid lectures and specialized student workshops.

This application cycle is 100% free of charge. There are no review fees or entry costs.

Additional Details
Accommodation is directly provided at the main NART residency facility at a fixed institutional rate of €45 per day, totaling €450 for the residency run, which is deducted from or covered by the incoming Erasmus+ per diem allowance. The residency building functions as a highly active cultural center; the incoming resident must be fully prepared to engage with the local border public, involve the Narva community in their creative processes, and present their finalized work at a public concluding event.
