Organizer Information
The USC–SJTU Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry (ICCI), founded in 2015, is an international school of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China). In collaboration with MANA | Global New Media Art Platform, the ART VALLEY PROGRAM fosters an art ecosystem that integrates cultural industry with academic education. Since its inception, the program has hosted over 100 global artists and researchers, elevating public artistic literacy and exploring the deep integration of art and management.
Title & Description
2026 ICCI ART VALLEY PROGRAM – International Visiting Artist-Scholars Activities.
This residency invites 5–6 international visiting artists or scholars to embark on a cross-media and cross-cultural exploration. At a time when artificial intelligence and spatial computing are reshaping the creative landscape, the program focuses on three directions: digital-material interaction, cross-cultural understanding, and urban transformation. Outcomes will be presented through exhibitions at prestigious venues across Shanghai, including online virtual spaces and the SJTU History Museum.

Eligibility
- Open to International artists and scholars with university-level teaching experience.
- Must have an active artistic practice (priority for interdisciplinary, digital, or integrated media).
- Must demonstrate fluent English presentation skills and strong cross-cultural communication abilities.
- Must be fully committed to the residency period from November 1 to December 15, 2026.

Fees
- Application Fee: Free to apply.
- Insurance: Participants are strongly encouraged to arrange their own personal insurance.
Application Requirements
- Curriculum Vitae (CV): Including portrait photo, artistic philosophy, and educational background.
- Residency Plan: A work plan for the stay and an outline for proposed lectures/workshops.
- Portfolio: Representative works and a list of at least five works available for potential donation.
- Records: Evidence of teaching experience and exhibition history.

Additional Details
Selected scholars/artists are expected to:
- Engage deeply with the Shanghai Jiao Tong University community.
- Organize 1–2 public events, such as academic lectures or creative workshops.
- Maintain a regular studio presence and participate in organized visits to Shanghai’s museums and galleries.
- Donate two artworks for the permanent collection at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
- Collaborate with 1–2 ICCI student assistants on exhibition preparation and public programs.
Support from student assistants is provided to help navigate the local art ecosystem and facilitate exhibition logistical needs.
