Short Description

In 2023, Lee Ufan Arles and Maison Guerlain have joined forces to create the Art & Environment Prize, awarded each year to a work of universal scope whose philosophical depth echoes that of Lee Ufan. The link to the environment resonates with the values defended by the Maison Guerlain.

Sharing the same sensitivity to artistic support and transmission, as well as the same commitment to art and the environment, Lee Ufan Arles and Maison Guerlain encourage artistic productions that are resolutely altruistic and responsible, opening up new dialogues with nature.

With the 2025 Art & Environment Prize, Lee Ufan Arles and Guerlain aim to develop a creative space that creates conceptual, semantic, and aesthetic bridges between the work of young creators and that of Lee Ufan. The Prize is therefore open to strong projects offering a new vision of our relationship with modernity, as well as to long-term projects related to nature, the environment, and materials.

Program Benefits & Awards

After winning the prize, the winner will benefit from a six- to eight-week support program in early 2026, with a production space and accommodation in the heart of the Arles region. This “space-time” allows them to carry out their artistic project but also to meet the people and institutions relevant to its implementation: meetings with artists, art professionals, and local stakeholders, as well as with the public. A representative from the Lee Ufan Arles team supports the recipient in their approach by engaging in numerous meetings with artists, curators, and international and local stakeholders.

The residency is followed by a summer exhibition of the artist’s work in one of the Lee Ufan Arles spaces.
