LIMEN is a new two-week artist and researcher residency in Sardinia, launching its first edition in October 2026. It takes place at Casa M, a guesthouse in the village of Siddi, in the historical Marmilla sub-region of central Sardinia, about 50 kilometres from Cagliari. The residency is coordinated by Linda Paganelli, a visual anthropologist and filmmaker whose work focuses on human rights in conflict zones, the relationship between power and minorities, and refugees and migrants; she holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Studies from the Alma Mater Studiorum in Bologna and a Master's in Visual Anthropology from Goldsmiths, University of London. Paganelli also co-leads the Berlin Film Community, a registered association (e.V.) and network of roughly 17,000 filmmakers and film-lovers, alongside Alex DePew and Klaus Salminen — LIMEN is run in partnership with this organization. As this is LIMEN's inaugural edition, limited independent public information exists about the residency itself beyond its own materials.

LIMEN Art Residency
LIMEN is a two-week residency for artists and researchers, built around the idea of "real time" — fourteen uninterrupted days, rather than a weekend or a rushed stay, to think, create, and be transformed by the place. Participants work independently alongside a small group of fellow artists, each pursuing their own practice, while being guided by Linda Paganelli, who coordinates group sessions and works with each participant individually. The residency is built on the premise that individual and collective work feed into one another, and that a participant's work becomes clearer and deeper through dialogue with others engaged in the same process. Alongside independent studio time, Paganelli facilitates group sessions rooted in regenerative practices, drawing on her anthropological training to work with memory — both collective and individual — as material, read through an explicitly political and queer lens attentive to visibility, erasure, belonging, and how power inscribes itself on bodies, landscapes, and relationships. No public showing is required at the end of the residency; the program states it prioritizes process over presentation.

Eligibility
- Open to conceptual artists, mixed media artists, land artists, visual artists, filmmakers, photographers, researchers, designers, illustrators, composers, "community makers," or writers who need time and space to develop a body of work
- Applicants should be drawn to questions of memory — personal, collective, or both
- A political and queer reading of the applicant's material should feel urgent, whether already central to their practice or something they are just beginning to explore
- No prior experience with anthropological or ethnographic methods is required
- Applicants should want to work near other artists while maintaining their own solitude, and be curious about land and place rather than treating the location as scenery

Application Fee
€1,100–1,600 (sliding scale). This includes studio space, room, and full board. Flights and travel to Sardinia are not included. Cancellation terms: full refund if withdrawn within 7 days of acceptance (if more than 2 weeks before arrival); full refund minus a €50 administrative fee for cancellations more than 30 days before arrival (before 4 September); 50% refund between 30 and 14 days before arrival (4–20 September); non-refundable within 14 days of arrival (after 20 September). Full refund if LIMEN cancels the residency; genuine emergencies (illness, bereavement) considered case by case.
